Urgent Need for Saturday Bus Services in Sturminster Newton
To express the concerns regarding the lack of Saturday bus services in Sturminster Newton. This change has significantly impacted many resident, particularly those who rely on public transport due to disabilities, lack of personal vehicles, or the need to the need to commute to work on Saturdays.
The absence of Saturdays buses has left many individuals deprived of essential mobility it difficult for them to eccess necessary services, emploment, and social activities. This situation is causing considerable inconvenience and hardship for a significant portion of our community.
Even the Goverment encourages the use of public transport to reduce traffic congestion and enviromental impact. Additonally, Sturminster Newton lacks large supermarkets such Asda, Morrison and we do not have a train station, making reliable bus services even more critical for residents to access essential goods and the main services.
Therefore, I kindly request that Dorset Council consider reinstating the Saturday bus services on a rota basis or exploring alternative solutions, utilizing First Bus, South West Coaches to transfer residents to key locations like Gillingham, Blandford, Yeovil on Saturdays. This would greatly benefit those who are currently struggling to meet their transportation needs.
Why the contribution is important
The town of Sturmister Newton needs the Saturday bus service for the those with disabilites, elderly individuals and to help everybody in Sturminster. Dorset Council would support the government initiative to promote public transport.
