To ensure good quality and well built homes, delivered to high architectural standards, then the Council needs to encourage small and medium regional builders. The nationals will, quite simply, not deliver homes of the right quality.

All homes should meet standards appropriate to be classed as a home. Housing standards officers should spot check random homes....social and private rented

Building standards in the UK appear to be very poor compared to some countries and as a consequence builders both large and small are not incentivised to up their game. I have seen some very small building firms who take a pride in what they do, these are few and far and they find it difficult then to achieve a decent margin.

Dorset Council should insist that new homes are built to the highest environmental standards. It is bordering on scandalous to build homes without eg solar panels.
